              was / were
                   •  ‘’was / were’’ are the past tense of the verb ‘’to be’’.
                   •  We use ‘’was’’ in the first person singular (I) and the third person singular (he, she, it).
                   •   We use ‘’were’’ in the second person singular and plural (you) and first and third person plural (we,
                     they).
