ELECTIONS & DEMOCRACY
I think elections are very important in democratic countries.
It’s important to vote freely and choose their
representatives. People respect each other’s rights and live
in harmony in democracy. We have a general election every LEARN STEP BY STEP
four years in our country. People under 18 can’t vote. I’m
only thirteen, so I need to wait for another five years to vote.
It’s my dream to be a fair politician in the future and do
many good things for my country. Anyway, I want to give
some information about our last class presidency yesterday.
The election started at half past nine. I wrote the name of
my favourite candidate on a piece of paper and put it into an envelope. Then I put the envelope
Lucas into the ballot box. All of my classmates followed the same steps. Yuka, Paul and Ray were the
candidates. I supported Ray in the election. There were 32 students in the class. Our teacher
counted the votes one by one. 10 students voted for Yuka, 8 students voted for Paul and 14 students voted
for Ray. I was very happy because my favourite candidate won the election. Everybody respected the
results.
